And second, the emulation is more convenient than the real thing. It is still legal to use the emulation after the real computer breaks. It is common for the power supply to fail. This leads to the question, if you need to own the real computer to use it, what is the use of the emulator? First, a real Macintosh won’t last forever. Mini vMac requires a ROM image file to run, and so can be legally used only by those who own a 680x0 based Macintosh. Work is in progress on Macintosh II emulation. Besides the Macintosh Plus, there are also emulations of the Macintosh 128K, 512K, 512Ke, SE, Classic, and SE FDHD. The meta program and data that generate the emulators (the Mini vMac build system) are rather bigger. The “Mini” in the name now means that each emulator in the collection is as small and simple as possible.
But vMac hasn’t been updated in many years, so Mini vMac may now be considered its continuation. It was originally intended to be of limited interest, a simpler version to serve as a programmers introduction to vMac. Mini vMac began in 2001 as a spin off of the program vMac. The first member of this collection emulates the Macintosh Plus.
MINI VMAC MAKES KEYBORD WIGOUT SOFTWARE

My favorite Cherry MX Brown keyboard is from Das Keyboard. These switches produce a tactile “clicky” effect without being too loud. The AmazonBasics wired keyboard is decent for how much it costs, but I’m a fan of mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX Brown switches. In the end, it’ll save time, frustration, and keep you from having to retrain what may be years of muscle memory. Take advantage of the provision to remap modifier keys inside of OS X’s System Preferences. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to use a great keyboard just because it was originally designed for Windows. The bottom line is that there are plenty of great keyboards out there that are designed to be used on Windows machines. Step 5: Click OK and close System Preferences. The problem isn’t the function of the keys, because as we discussed, from a pure functionality standpoint, the modifier keys (Control, Option, Command) all map 1:1. For example, the Control (⌃) key does the same thing on a Mac that it does on Windows, the Option (⌥) key on Mac does the same thing as the Alt key on Windows, and the Command (⌘) key on Mac does the same thing as the Windows key. All of the modifier keys on a Windows keyboard map 1:1 with the keys on a Mac from a functionality standpoint. Instead of the friendly ⌃, ⌥, and ⌘ keys, I was presented with Control, Windows, and Alt keys. Immediately, I could sense relief in my wrists, but because this was a keyboard designed for Windows and not for Mac, the switch presented a whole new problem. I just so happened to have an AmazonBasics wired keyboard available thanks to my recent Hackintosh build, so I decided to use it with my Mac. The shallow key travel of the MacBook’s keyboard is partly to blame. The reason behind such a change was that my MacBook Pro’s keyboard was causing wrist pain. Over the last few days I’ve been finding myself using a keyboard designed for Windows users on my Mac.
